Positive Material Inspection (PMI)

Positive Material Inspection (PMI) is a well-established analytical materials testing and materials identification technique used throughout industrial plants as well as within the metal assembly and component manufacturing industries.

A downside in materials technology is the potential for error, incorrect identification or installation of out-of-specification metal alloys. In the petrochemical, power generation and similar industries the prospect of such a miscalculation are inconceivable.

ITCL offers a Positive Material Inspection using an XRF hand-held scanner which will:

  • Positively analyse all metal alloys
  • Identity and arrange for scrap metal for recycling
  • Provide quality control within the manufacturing environment

In addition, Positive Material Inspection analysis can be obtained in the following:

  • Soils and sediments
  • Monitoring of lead levels in paint
  • Geochemical mapping
  • Coating / plating analysis
  • Environmental monitoring
  • Materials covered by Restriction of Hazardous
  • Substances legislation
  • Items covered by waste from electrical and electronic equipment
