From 1 January 2018, the Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017, came into force.
So how will this affect my company?
- A lot of the changes are around the way the HSE authorise an NDT company to carry out site radiography. Every NDT company must have a consent certificate from the HSE to carry out on site and in-house radiography.
- ITCL’s consent certificate number is: IRR 00001714.
- The next major difference is the way site radiography is notified, this now needs to be done in writing by the client to
ITCL 7 days prior to the first shift.
You can follow This link or simply use the form on our website, below. This needs to be filled in for every non-consecutive radiography shift. Should you wish to cancel a shift this also needs to be in writing 24 hours before the booked shift. ITCL time and date stamp these as per the new requirements of the regulations. These need to be made available to the HSE on request.
- An onsite Radiography risk assessment still needs to be carried out on site prior to any radiography taking place.
